Number 21 – Whitechapel Gallery

Its been awhile since I have done anything on the Top 100 list but don’t be surprised if you see a few posts coming up in the next few days with me plowing my way through the final few. Why? Well because I’m sad to say I am moving back home to Oz and I’ve only got a few weeks left in London. Sad days I know but even more reason to explore as much of this city as I can!

My most recent trip was to number 21 the Whitechapel Gallery. Located, in you guessed it -Whitechapel, I actually decided to tick this one off the list in style and do it as part of ‘First Thursdays‘. On the first thursday of every month, 130 galleries host a free late night where you can wander around East London and see as much art as you can. First stop however should be the Whitechapel Gallery so you can pick up a map or join the walking tour.

Number 34 – Dulwich Picture Gallery

It had been awhile since I had ticked off an activity in my Top 100 book and since it was the Sunday before heading back to work for the new year I though it was the perfect afternoon to go exploring. Rather than heading into the city we decided to walk over to Dulwich Picture Gallery.

Serpentine Gallery

I’ve been pretty slack on the blogging front lately – and admittedly its because I’ve lost my sightseeing mojo. There are just so many tourists and visitors to London on the weekends I want to cocoon up in my home neighbourhood and avoid the crowds. Every year the Serpentine Gallery builds a pavillion on its lawns and after seeing pictures of it all over the tube stations I got out of my mid-summer slump and missioned into Kensington Gardens to check out the new pavilion.

Street Art Walking Tour

Now, I’m not much of a edgy hipster living in East London but I do love exploring the Shoreditch/Hoxton area and one of the best ways I’ve ever seen it is during a Street Art Walking Tour. Based in and around Brick Lane, the free two hour tours are run by street artists themselves.
