Mien Tay

Delicious Eats: Mien Tay

Location: 180 Lavender Hill, Battersea, London SW11 5TQ and 122 Kingsland Road, Shoreditch, E2 8DP

Cost: £12 for a starter and main.

Mien Tay has long been one of my favourite places to eat in London. I often flit between the Lavender Hill branch in Battersea and the Kingsland Road Branch in Shoreditch. And while I do change up location, I have to admit I very rarely stray away from the same two menu items.  I always start with pork and prawn fresh rolls – the dipping sauce is amazing, i have to refrain from licking the dish clean. The rolls are always indeed fresh and tasty. Stopping at just one order is tough.

Goode & Wright

Delicious Eats: Goode & Wright

Location: 271 Portobello Road, W11 1LR, London

Cost: £10 for a sandwich and coffee

We’d been walking along Portobello Road in the rain for about 20 minutes trying to find somewhere to get some food. Admittedly, there were plenty of places to eat but we were feeling a bit fussy. We wanted somewhere with a simple menu, that didn’t cost much, that was cosy and comfortable out of the rain and that had seats for us to sit down and get a nice warm drink. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Goode & Wright, warm lights coming out of brown wooden doors tucked behind a market stall. It was the perfect place.

My friend Danielle and I had trouble choosing from the menu. All of the food looked tasty – fresh ingredients, simple meals and best of all – coffee! I had a bacon, avocado and tomato sandwich and being unable to choose Danielle ordered French toast and avocado on toast. The food came out quickly, and we enjoyed our well made coffee, our hot tasty food and the atmosphere. The service was great and it was hard to get up and head out back into the rainy weather.

I was so busy eating and enjoying the atmosphere that I didn’t take any photos sorry. You will just have to trust me and check it out for yourself!

Patty & Bun

Delicious Eats: Patty & Bun

Location: 54 James Street, London W1U 1HE

Cost: £15 for a burger, fries and beer

After having the best burger in my life ever in New York City, I’ve always found it hard to really appreciate a good burger here in London. In fact, I’ve almost gone off even attempting to find one as good because lets face it – it wont be. However I have to say after a visit to Patty & Bun it came pretty close.

Kêu

Delicious Eat: Kêu

Location: 9 Poland Street, London W1F 8PY. Also found in Shoreditch

Cost: £10ish for a Banh Mi and drink

I love Vietnamese food but if i’m honest when I order I barely branch away from a big bowl of vermicelli salad or a hot pho. They are just so good and constantly tasty that its hard to try something new.  I was excited to try out Kêu and even though they serve bowls I finally branched out and tried a Banh Mi.

Duck & Waffle

Delicious Eats: Duck & Waffle

Address: 110 Bishopsgate, London EC2N 4AY

Cost: Around £25 for a main and coffee

Duck and Waffle has been on my restaurant to visit list for ages and when James’s birthday came around we had the perfect excuse to flash out a little and book a weekend brunch date at the highest restaurant in London. Booking for such an exclusive spot meant I was booking the table for 2 about 6 weeks in advance but it was worth the long weight just for the views alone. Even though the place is open 24/7 its a popular place and timings were tight!

Flat Iron

Delicious Eats: Flat Iron

Address: 9 Denmark St, Soho, WC2H 8LS (also found on Beak Street)

Cost: £15 for a main and a side

The thing that appeals to me the most about Flat Iron is there is about 4 things on the menu, its about £10 for a main and they focus on one thing – well cooked meat. A friend of mine had had their burger and raved so much about it he left me drooling and eager to test it out. We made a lunch date and made our way down to Flat Iron only to find out that that days menu had no burger.

Kanada-Ya

Delicious Eats: Kanada-Ya

Address: 64 St. Giles Street, London WC2H 8LE

Cost: £11-12:50 for a bowl of delicious ramen

Kanada-Ya seemed to have popped up over night. One day when I walked passed it it was a coffee shop, the next day it was a Ramen bar with a line of about 20 people out the door. Curious as to why it was so popular I decided I had to go back and check it out for myself.  Me and a few work friends went by for lunch and even though the line was much smaller we still had to wait outside for a little while until a table cleared.

Granger & Co

Delicious Eats: Granger & Co

Address: 50 Sekforde Street, London EC1R 0HA (another restaurant in Notting Hill)

Cost: £16 for a meal and coffee

A friend of mine recently moved to London and when catching up for brunch I offered to take her to one of my favorite places or look in my coffee guide for a good place in between our two houses. Instead she recommended we visit one of her favourite places that she had been to about 3 times. At first I thought  ‘Well I have lived here for a few years so I do know some good ones’ but when she suggested Granger & Co and I realised it was a restaurant by Aussie chef Bill Granger I had to give in and go with her recommendation. I didn’t regret it!

Home Slice

Delicious Eat: Home Slice

Address: 13 Neal’s Yard, Seven Dials, London WC2H 9DP

Cost: £4 a slice or £20 a pizza

On a night out recently a friend of mine had been telling me about her previous trip to Home Slice and how it was really tasty and really awesome atmosphere and by the end of the conversation we were both so hungry we decided to drop in. Luckily we were close by so it was short trip to Neal’s Yard where Home Slice is tucked away in a side alley – it was easy to spot though due to the people gathering out side.
