Number 83 – Natural History Museum

The first thing you see when you walk into the Natural History Museum is the fossils of a gigantic dinosaur towering over the foyer. If the beautiful architecture of the building wasn’t enough to make you fall in the love with the place – seeing such an amazing artefact will. In fact the whole dinosaur exhibit, albeit over run with children, is one of the biggest draw cards to the museum and well worth the visit.

The rest of your time can be spent wandering through the halls and dipping into different animal categories or different times in the earths history. If you are wanting to avoid the kids (but not the crowds) check out the Lates that happen on the last Friday of the month. While some of the museum is closed there is always a great exhibition to be seen. One of my favourites being the Sexual Nature exhibit where you could find out how different animals get freaky.

The museum is also home to an annual exhibit that is one of my favourites in London – The Wildlife Photographer of the Year. The photos on display never cease to amaze me how people have the patience and talent to wait out the perfect shot of some of the worlds most interesting creatures.

Located in South Kensington the museum is close by to the V&A and the Science Museum  both included in the Top 100 so if your in the mood for a museum day out – that is the place to go!
